Refine Selection on Artesian Portal

An easy tutorial about how to Refine the Market Data Selection from the Artesian portal.

Artesian gives you straightforward access to the data history to perform an analysis and produce a plan in the most compatible way.

Let’s see step-by-step how to proceed.

The goal

Refine the data selection on the Artesian Portal.

The reference data is fictitious, created exclusively for this case. With Artesian, it is possible to write any data attributable to a Time Series, making it suitable for saving your data production.

Let’s see how to proceed step by step.

Refine the Market Data Selection for the extraction

At the top right side of the screen, next to the user, the Time Series option, with which we will find the list of Market Data present in the system, is already selected. If this is not the case, it is necessary to use the drop-down menu to switch from the GME Public Offers section to the Time Series section thus being able to select and list the data of interest.

By selecting our “PythonSDK” from the list of available providers and choosing three (in this case) market data to extract as “ActualWrite”, “VersionedWrite” and “MarketAssessmentWrite”, we will notice how the menu on the left-side changes, showing us the type and the total number of selected market data.

To view the available options, scroll down the page.

In this article, we will focus on the “Refine Selection” option.

“Refine Selection”: is a valuable operation to “clean” the list of selected market data in case there have been any oversights in the search and selection of the data.

The screen shows the list of selected Market Data, showing their ID (1), the name (2) of the market data (in this case, “ActualWrite”, “VersionedWrite” and “MarketAssessmentWrite”), the type of AggregationRule (3), TimeSeries Provider (4) and Type (5) associated with it.

To check the selected Market Data, it is possible to filter by Type and delete items chosen by mistake

Check All Permissions

Another important function that the platform offers is “Check All Permissions” (!): A function that will pair the available data with the associated permissions.

These permissions refer to the possible actions concerning the system’s market data.

Reader” (1is the read-only permission of the data present in the Market Data.

Owner” (2is the highest permission you can have on a specific Market Data and allows the user to dispose of the curve without any limit.

Creator” (3is the permission to create new Market Data within Artesian. Once created, it also automatically becomes its Owner.

Contributor” (4is the permission to modify the metadata of a Market Data without deleting or modifying it. This permission to modify the metadata allows the Contributor to change the Aggregation Rule, the Time Transform or the Time Zone (for example). The Contributor can also classify the Market Data as he likes.

Editor” (5is the permission to modify a Market Data’s data or create new ones.

Subsequently, if you want to proceed with the classification of the selected data, you can use the “Remove Read Only MarketData” button to deselect all the curves that do not allow any modification but only the reading of the underlying data.

It is sufficient to employ just once and then have it entirely reproducible and automated in our workflow.

Not only does it save you time, but it allows you to minimize human errors caused by repeated operations on substantial amounts of data or different Excel files.

An undeniable advantage that allows us to focus on data analysis instead of its management and optimization.
